High School Students Can Earn College Credits, Jump-Start Their Future at AAMU

Alabama A&M University Opens Enrollment for College Bridge Dual Enrollment Program
High school students looking to get a head start on college can now apply for the Alabama A&M University College Bridge Dual Enrollment Program, an initiative designed to help students earn college credit while still enrolled in high school.
Now entering its third year, the program gives academically qualified students an opportunity to experience college-level coursework, build confidence in a university setting and prepare for long-term academic success at Alabama A&M University. Students in grades 10 through 12 can participate while continuing their high school studies.
The College Bridge program was established to expand access to higher education and create a seamless pathway from high school to Alabama A&M. In 2023, the University partnered with Huntsville City Schools through a formal agreement aimed at increasing college readiness and student achievement.
Participants can take flexible online courses during the fall and spring semesters before transitioning to an on-campus summer experience that includes in-person classes and residence life.
Program leaders say the experience helps students strengthen academic discipline, become familiar with university systems and gain early exposure to the culture and leadership environment of a historically Black university.
Students who complete at least nine credit hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA by their senior year may qualify for automatic admission and priority housing selection at Alabama A&M University. Additional benefits include reduced tuition costs, accelerated degree completion and early consideration for scholarships, honors opportunities and leadership initiatives.
Eligible students must attend an accredited high school, meet GPA and admission requirements and receive approval from a school counselor or principal. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required for participation.
Tuition for the program is $33 per credit hour, with a reduced rate available for dependents of Alabama A&M faculty and staff.
Students interested in applying should complete the Alabama A&M University Dual Enrollment Application and submit an official high school transcript along with a signed authorization form from their counselor or principal.
