Hugine Addresses Annual Campus Conference
President Speaks at Yearly Campus Conference
Following a series of unit presentations at the annual Faculty-Staff Conference, Alabama A&M University President Andrew Hugine, Jr., was introduced as the Male President of the Year, a distinction recently awarded to him by the HBCU Digest for his significant accomplishments over the past decade.
At the onset of his State of the University address, Hugine acknowledged the support he has consistently received from his family and trustees, as well as from “an excellence leadership team” comprised of cabinet, administrators, faculty and staff, alumni and current students.
That team, he said, has enabled him to hone in on the University’s commitment to access and opportunity, in addition to allowing the institution to achieve milestones in enrollment, various rankings, grants, infrastructure improvements, national and specialty accreditations (e.g., upcoming AASCB visit for the College of Business and Public Affairs) and other areas.
As the University moves “forward” toward its sesquicentennial, Hugine told faculty and staff to expect plans for a celebratory event and major fundraising campaign. He concluded his presentation with an acrostic for the word FORWARD that included Faith, Optimism, Renewal, Willingness, Accountability/Accessibility, Responsibility/Resourcefulness and Determination/Dedication.
