Interdisciplinary Teams to Present Real-World Digital Banking Prototypes

AAMU to Host Dollarcraft Public Showcase Highlighting Student Fintech Innovation
Something powerful happens when students are given the tools to build what the future demands — and at Alabama A&M University, that future is taking shape now.
On Friday, April 24, AAMU will host the Dollarcraft Public Showcase from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Clyde Foster Multipurpose Room, inviting the campus and broader community to experience student-created financial technology solutions designed to address real-world challenges.
The event will mark the culmination of the University’s innovative Dollarcraft program, a hands-on fintech initiative where ideas move beyond the classroom and into practical, impactful creation.
Dollarcraft is an experiential learning program made possible through a $50,000 grant from the Interledger Foundation, a global nonprofit advancing open and interoperable digital financial systems.
Selected from a competitive international pool, Alabama A&M is one of only three universities worldwide to receive the Interledger NextGen Higher Education Grant, joining institutions in the Netherlands and Kenya. The recognition highlights AAMU’s growing leadership in financial inclusion, digital innovation, and workforce readiness.
Through the 12-week interdisciplinary program, students from the College of Business and Public Affairs and the College of Engineering, Technology, and Physical Sciences are collaborating to design digital banking prototypes that address gaps in today’s financial systems. With support from Blaze Group®, a fintech education and strategy firm, students are exploring entrepreneurship, digital finance, and Interledger Protocol-powered tools.
The Dollarcraft Public Showcase will offer a front-row seat to student innovation in action. Attendees will experience live demonstrations of student-built fintech applications, pitch presentations from interdisciplinary teams, interactive stations featuring fully functional prototypes, and opportunities to engage directly with student developers and creators.
Each project reflects a commitment to accessibility, usability, and long-term impact, with solutions designed to expand financial access and empower underserved communities.
The showcase will highlight student achievement while underscoring AAMU’s commitment to preparing graduates for leadership in emerging industries. By blending technical expertise with real-world problem-solving, the Dollarcraft program equips students to innovate at the intersection of finance and technology.
Alabama A&M University invites students, faculty, industry leaders, and community members to attend and support the next generation of fintech innovators.
