AAMU Faculty and Staff Survey to Support First-Gen Students
AAMU Planning First-Generation Bulldog Celebration
The Office of Multicultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development, is asking all faculty and staff to take this survey as they prepare for AAMU’s inaugural First-Generation Bulldog Celebration October 30 – November 4, 2023.
The celebration is based on the First-Generation College Celebration (FGCC), an annual opportunity to raise awareness of the first-generation college student identity by advancing an asset-based, national narrative of these students’ experiences and outcomes.
Since the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and the Center for First-Generation Student Success launched the inaugural celebration in 2017, hundreds of higher education institutions, corporations, non-profits, and K-12 schools have joined together in recognizing the achievements of the first-gen community.
“We are asking all faculty and staff who identify as first-generation to please complete
this survey,” states Dr. Pamela Little, Executive Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
“This year, we want to leverage the annual celebration to deepen our campus community’s
understanding of the systemic barriers plaguing higher education and the support necessary
for this resilient population to continue thriving across education, career, and life.
To that end, we would like to identify our first-generation faculty and staff members
that we may build community and offer support to our first-generation students.”
Every faculty and staff member who completes the survey will receive a token during the First Bulldog celebration week, as well as
invitations to participate in all scheduled activities.
