AAMU ’25 Garrett Earns Role with Fortune 500 Company

Jasmine Garrett, a proud member of Alabama A&M University’s Class of 2025, is heading to Atlanta to begin her professional journey as a product manager with Allstate, one of the nation’s leading insurance and financial services companies. A cum laude graduate in management and a former NASA L'SPACE research intern, Garrett received the offer from Allstate on March 7 – just days after participating in the HBCU Legacy Bowl Career Fair in New Orleans.

Garrett transferred to Alabama A&M from Southern Union State Community College and quickly found her place on The Hill. She earned a transfer scholarship and immersed herself in campus life, taking full advantage of the resources and support the University provides.

In February, Garrett joined 50 AAMU students who traveled to New Orleans for the Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl Career Fair, the nation’s largest HBCU career fair. Sponsored by Career Development Services, the trip offered students valuable access to top employers and professional development opportunities.

“I’m excited to work on innovative products, collaborate with experienced professionals, and grow in the tech industry,” said Garrett, who plans to begin graduate studies in information science in Spring 2026. “Alabama A&M University provided me with academic knowledge, hands-on experience, and consistent support from faculty and advisors. AAMU offered countless opportunities – from internships to career fairs – that helped shape my professional journey and prepare me for life after graduation.”

Garrett described her experience on The Hill as transformative. “My time at AAMU was enriching and empowering. I grew academically, professionally, and personally. The community, culture, and opportunities the University provided helped me become the confident woman I am today.”

Garrett, the first in her family to attend Alabama A&M, chose the University because it offered the complete package: academic excellence, cultural vibrancy, and career preparation. “From the very beginning, my advisor and the University as a whole supported my goals and helped me stay focused and prepared. AAMU opened doors for me and gave me the tools to walk through them confidently.”

Looking ahead, Garrett has ambitious goals. “My long-term goal is to become a senior product leader in the tech industry. I also aspire to launch my own tech-based business that creates opportunities in underrepresented communities. Giving back, mentoring, and helping others find their path are important to me as I grow in my career.”

Her advice for fellow Bulldogs is simple but powerful: “Remember to take up space. Don’t be afraid to network, always strive for excellence in your academics, and never forget – someone is always watching. I’m proud to say Alabama A&M University gave me the opportunity to do all of that and more.”
