Mentreddy to Present AAMU Research on Climate Change and Food Safety
AAMU Professor to Speak at International Conference in Jamaica
The Food Hygiene Bureau (FHB) – Jamaica has invited AAMU Professor of Crop Science/Agronomy Dr. Srinivasa Mentreddy to speak at the International Conference on Impact of Climate Change on Food Safety, October 24–25 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
“I am truly excited to present our research findings and their implications for mitigating
and adapting to global climate change effects, food security, and safety at an international
conference with speakers from the Caribbean diaspora, the UK, the Philippines, India,
Canada, the USA, and Singapore,” states Mentreddy. “I will be presenting two papers.
One is entitled: ‘Agroforestry - A Climate-smart System for Ensuring Food Security
and Safety.’ The Second is ‘Low-temperature Plasma: A Green Technology for Improving
Crop Productivity and Food Safety.’ Both presentations are based on our NIFA and NSF-funded
research at Alabama A&M University.”
Mentreddy also discussed “The Future Crops for Ensuring Food Security” at the virtual
FHB conference in 2022.
The FHB conference will bring speakers from Caribbean, India, Canada, USA, Philippines,
Singapore and UK, Guyana together to address issues and challenges with climate change
on traditional food systems, how the sustainable development goals will be achieved;
what this will mean for the region.
