Elegance, tradition and Bulldog pride took center stage Friday, Oct. 9, as Alabama A&M University celebrated its 2026 coronation ceremony, officially crowning Niyah Cameron as the 76th Miss Alabama A&M University and Jeremiah Hunt as the second Mister Alabama A&M University.

Held at the AAMU Event Center, the ceremony helped usher in the University's 2026 Homecoming celebration, “A Different World, Same Bulldog Legacy,” scheduled for Oct. 10-17 on The Hill. The event also recognized members of the Ascending Court and representatives from several of the University's registered student organizations.

Elected earlier this year, Cameron and Hunt shared their visions for their reigns, emphasizing leadership, service and the importance of leaving a lasting legacy.

Hunt, a senior sport management major from Conyers, Georgia, is a third-generation student at a historically Black college or university. Inspired by his family's educational legacy and influential mentors, he has developed a passion for leadership, mentorship and creating opportunities for young people.

Reflecting on the personal significance of representing Alabama A&M, Hunt described the University as a place that felt like home from the beginning. His platform focuses on honoring legacy, uniting the University community, nurturing future leaders and transforming tomorrow.

“I want my time as Mr. A&M to be defined, not by the crown I wear, but by the people I serve and the impact I leave behind,” Hunt said.

Hunt also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the University and continue his family's educational legacy.

Cameron, a senior honors biology major from Atlanta, Georgia, aspires to become a pediatric cardiologist. Guided by faith, purpose and a commitment to helping others, she has embraced opportunities for service and leadership throughout her journey on The Hill.

During her coronation address, Cameron reflected on the experiences that prepared her for the role and her commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of fellow students.

She thanked God, her family, friends, team, church family and supporters for their encouragement throughout her journey. She also expressed gratitude to the University for entrusting her with the title and pledged to honor it through her actions and service.

Cameron emphasized her desire to foster a campus community where students feel supported, appreciated and empowered to succeed.

“My reign is rooted in my purpose. I want every student to feel seen, valued, and reminded of their worth,” Cameron said.
