Office of Multicultural Affairs to focus on Support for Students
Student Affairs Announces Realignment to Bolster Services for Transfer, International Students
Alabama A&M University today announced the Office of Community Colleges Relations and Global Initiatives will become the Office of Multicultural Affairs. This realignment follows extensive evaluation of all aspects of organizational structure and streamlines enrollment for transfer and international students.
“It’s more than a name change,” said Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Braque Talley. “This shift will allow our staff to provide a greater level of support for students. In the process, we’re creating a new, more seamless admissions process and enhancing the student experience.”
The reorganization, approved by the AAMU Board of Trustees last month, will redirect admissions and enrollment activities for transfer and international students to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The restructured Office of Multicultural Affairs will take on a focus of discovering and implementing specific ways to support and engage students.
Led by Executive Director Dr. Pamela Little, the Office of Multicultural Affairs realignment will take effect September 1.
“Our office is a powerful resource for students,” said Little. “We’re excited about the opportunity to become even more focused on creating an inclusive campus and removing the challenges commonly experienced as students from diverse background work to become acclimated into a new campus home.”
