AAMU ROTC Joins Drake in Women's Symposium

To recognize National Women’s Month, Alabama A&M University's ROTC Department partnered with J.F. Drake State Technical and Community College to host the first Women’s Leadership Symposium in Huntsville.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Prudence LaBeach Pollard of Oakwood University.
The panel discussion featured women from Redstone Arsenal and the local community, including Dr. Danette M. Garces-Webb, psychologist, behavioral health (Redstone Arsenal); MAJ Joann Taalib, behavioral health/social worker (Redstone Arsenal); Pastor Tina Carriger, spiritual (Oakwood University); Mrs. Mary Bouldin, registered nurse (Redstone Arsenal); Ms. Cara Sexton, business services specialist (Redstone Federal Credit Union); Ms. Donna Smith, nutrition; and Alecia Pace, fitness (Alabama A&M University staff).
The Symposium addressed how women struggle to balance work and families.
Dr. Pollard discussed challenges of the workplace and recommended strategies to address them through research and policy at organizational and governmental levels.
