Expanded Strada HBCU Initiative to Support Alabama A&M Students
Alabama A&M University is one of 22 institutions joining the Strada HBCU Initiative
this year. A $25 million grant – the largest ever given by the organization – will
provide scholarships, networking, and leadership development opportunities to more
than 500 HBCU students over eight years. The Strada HBCU Initiative launched in October
2021 with 28 institutions. After a successful pilot year, the initiative has been
expanded to include 50 institutions.
“HBCUs have delivered on the promise and practice of cultivating economic mobility
for more than 150 years. We are proud to play a small part in supporting their important
work,” said Strada CEO Stephen Moret.
Through the initiative, the AAMU Presidential Honors Program will receive a 8-year,
$385,000 grant to fund scholarships, internship stipends, and leadership development
programming through 2029.
