AAMU Students Enjoy ‘Friday’ at Louis Crews as Spring Events Heat Up

Bulldog Cinema Brings Big-Screen Fun to the Field Before Finals
With finals approaching and Spring 2025 Commencement just around the corner, the end of the semester at Alabama A&M University is buzzing with activity – and moments of fun.
To help ease the stress that often comes with exams and year-end deadlines, the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development treated students to an open-air movie night under the stars. The featured film? The cult-classic comedy “Friday,” shown on the state-of-the-art LED video board at Louis Crews Stadium.
Students came prepared with blankets, pillows, and popcorn in hand, creating a cozy, campus-wide theater vibe on the stadium turf. As Craig (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker) navigated the highs and lows of a single day in South Central Los Angeles, laughter echoed across the field.
The 1995 film’s comedic moments and iconic one-liners were a perfect match for a relaxing break from academic pressures. And the venue? Louis Crews Stadium has never looked better. AAMU made history last year as the first university in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) to install LED video boards across all athletic venues.
The Bulldog Cinema event is just one highlight in a jam-packed schedule leading up to the close of the semester – and a milestone year. As part of Alabama A&M University's 150th Anniversary Celebration, the University will host its highly anticipated Founder’s Week, kicking off with the 24th Annual Black-Tie Scholarship Gala on Friday, April 25. This year’s headliner, R&B legend Charlie Wilson, promises a show to remember. Tickets are still available here. On Sunday, the Clark Sisters headline the Gospel Celebration at 4:00 p.m. in the Event Center. Tickets are also available here.
Following Founder’s Week, final exams begin Thursday, May 1, running through Wednesday, May 7. Then, it’s time to celebrate. Spring 2025 Commencement Ceremonies will take place on Friday, May 9, with graduate students walking at 10:00 a.m. and undergraduates at 3:00 p.m. inside the Event Center.
As the semester winds down, events like Bulldog Cinema remind students to take a breath, enjoy the moment, and finish strong.
