AAMU CDS to Host In-Person Career Week February 4–7

The Alabama A&M Office of Career Development Services (CDS) will host an In-Person Career Week February 4–7. The week is designed to help students’ network with recruiters and learn about internships, co-ops and full-time career opportunities.

Event Schedule and Highlights

Tuesday, February 4: Sponsors + Industry + Government Cluster Sessions

  • Location: Ernest Knight Center, VIP Dining Room
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Employer Information Session are events hosted by employers to educate students and prospective job applicants about their company.

Wednesday, February 5: Resume Reviews

  • Location: Ernest Knight Center, Reception Room
  • Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Details: This event helps Alabama A&M University students prepare for the career fair and interview process by allowing them to receive helpful feedback in advance. Students are seated with resume reviewers on a first-come, first-served basis for 20-minute review sessions. This is a student drop-in event. Business casual attire is encouraged, but all students are welcome.

2:30 – 3:30 p.m.: Sponsors VIP Reception & Mock Check Presentations hosted by Platinum Sponsors 

  • Location: Ernest Knight Center, VIP Dining Room
  • Details: Career Week sponsors have an opportunity to designate a portion of the donation to a student organization of their choice and present a mock check to the student organization during this event.

4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.: Speed Networking Event & Reception hosted by Platinum & Gold Sponsors

  • Location: Ernest Knight Center, Reception Room
  • Details: The event is designed to help students develop a strong Bulldog Introduction (elevator pitch speech) and become more comfortable networking. With all participants seated in pairs, the Speed Networking sessions will commence with 4-minute sessions, in which students will be able to network with each recruiter. After the end of each 4-minute session, students will quickly alternate their seating arrangements to pair up with the next recruiter. The event leader will inform the group about the time frame. We invite AAMU students and alumni to participate. Dress in professional attire and bring multiple copies of your resume.

Thursday, February 6: Career Fair

  • Location: Student Health & Wellness Center Gym
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Details: Students will meet with employers representing the private sector, federal, state and local government, education and the military who will provide information about internships, co-ops and full-time career opportunities. We invite AAMU students and alumni to participate. Dress in professional attire and bring multiple copies of your resume.

Friday, February 7: Interview Day

  • Location: Student Health & Wellness Center Gym
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Details: Employers will select students to interview from their interactions during Resume Reviews, Speed Networking and the Career Fair. Students and alumni selected by an employer to interview should dress professional. This event is by employer invitation only.
